Pumpkin Investigations

On Friday the children enjoyed an afternoon of investigating pumpkins. Using a variety of measurement tools, the children made estimates, weighed, measured the circumference and height, counted the number of lines on our pumpkins, and recorded their findings in their ‘Pumpkin Investigation Journal'. We made predictions about whether or not a pumpkin would sink or float and were amazed to learn that pumpkins DO float!

The children enjoyed a special Halloween story, Big Pumpkin! by Erica Silverman and S.D. Schindler.  Many thanks to our pumpkin center volunteers: Mrs. Rogers, Mrs. Sharkey, Mrs. Rediger, Mrs. Chabot, and Mrs. Crouteau. We could not have had our special day without their help!

Please enjoy these pictures.

Joyfully,
